Peace Summit : Day 1: Bangladesh Economy & Opportunity for Youth

The theme for day 1 was “Impact of General Election 2018 on Bangladesh Economy and Opportunities for Young People”. Former Bangladesh Bank Governor, Dr. Atiur Rahman started the day with keynote speech in front of young participants. The interactive session went for 2 hours. Mr. Naveed Akbar, Director of EMK Center also spoke in the inauguration session. Then a young group of professionals guided the participants on creating resolution papers based on the key focus areas.

In the afternoon session, the participants presented the resolutions in front of the a panel of prominent economists, industry leaders, development professionals.

Last segment was a roundtable discussion on the youth resolutions and what should be the major economic areas that Bangladesh should focus on to become a strong economy by 2030. ATM Nurul Amin, Professor and Chairperson, Department of Economics BRAC University, Fahim Masroor, Founder, BDJobs.com, Mahmuda Afroz, Democratic Governance Cluster, UNDP, Mir Obaidur Rahman, Treasurer and Professor, Economics Department, UIU were among the notable speakers.

US Ambassador Earl Miller also joined the session and talked in front of the participants as a part of his visit to the EMK Center.

At the last part of the day, Preneur Lab CEO Arif Nezami and Chairman Rakhshanda Rukham launched www.Amar.Vote a digital platform for crowdsourced youth manifesto and election information along with the speakers, participants and guests.
