Startup Girl : Celebrating GEW with Startup Bangladesh by ICT Division

Global Entrepreneurship Week has been celebrated through organizing a day long Startup Bootcamp for women named “STARTUP GIRL ”by PreneurLab Limited in partnership with Startup Bangladesh at ICT Division. PreneurLab Limited is a technology for social good company that works for youth, women and entrepreneurs.

During one week each November, thousands of events and competitions in 170 countries inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors, and even investors to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week.

“Startup GIRL – Women Startup Boot Camp” has been initiated to help and promote women entrepreneurs through a day-long Bootcamp which included sessions, group task, pitching, panel discussion, networking and many more. Women from all over Bangladesh has come and learned how they can utilize digital platform to increase their business visibility.

Honorable Additional Secretary of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, Syeda Sarwar Jahan was the Chief Guest and Special Guest was Honorable Managing Director, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority.

The Honorable Chief Guest said, “Startup Girl- Women Startup Bootcamp is a very nice and effective bootcamp for women and I appreciate PreneurLab to organize such a program for women.” She added that PreneurLab should organize this type of program more and ICT Division will love to support them.

This day long Bootcamp has offered panel discussion based on the opportunities of women entrepreneurs. The panelists were Susanta Kumar Saha, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Finance, Suraya Jahan,Head of English Skills of British Council Bangladesh, Naima Chowdhury, Investment Specialist at LICT Project. The panelist, Susanta Kumar Saha, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Finance said, “Women should focus on their business, understand the legalization process of business which is one of the most important part of a business”. All the panelist share the opportunities that they are providing for women entrepreneurs.

Beside this, this bootcamp brought out bunch of speakers including Fahana Nazneen, Founder , Society for Bangladesh Young Women Entrepreneurs, Ahsanur Rahman, Media Manager, Unilever Bangladesh Ltd, Shoaib Rajiv, Digital Marketing Strategist, FCB Bitopi. There were 40 women entrepreneurs who attended the day long bootcamp.
